Targeted Industry Sectors
In 2001, the CWB Sectoral Planning Committee analyzed the major industries in the City and region. They reviewed industry trends, employment, wages, skill levels and vacancy information. In 2002, the Chicago Workforce Board launched a Healthcare Industry Summit to both bring attention to workforce challenges the industry was facing and identify key leaders with the resources, talent and commitment necessary to overcome them. In 2004, after having launched a series of successful healthcare industry initiatives, the Board determined that industry sectors provided a compelling framework for organizing all of our work.
CWB is currently targeting the following industry sectors:
- Healthcare
- Manufacturing
- Transportation, Warehousing and Logistics (TWL)
- Service Industries/Hospitality (hotel, retail, restaurants & customer service)
- Finance and Insurance
- Technology
