Chicago Workforce Board Committees
CWB is organized into four standing committees, listed below. Each Board member serves on one or more of these four committees. Committees meet regularly throughout the year. The committee meeting dates are posted on the CWB Calendar.
Communications Committee
The Communications Committee’s role is to develop and coordinate internal communications that will keep Board members up to date on committee activities and events together with ongoing external strategies that help make the public more aware of the Board’s work and specific achievements. The Committee is Chaired by Peggi Boyd, Director of Human Resources at American Labelmark Company.
Sectoral Planning Committee
The Sectoral Planning Committee’s initial work identified six key Chicago industry sectors: healthcare; manufacturing; service industries (hotel, restaurants, retail and customer service); transportation, warehousing and logistics (TWL); finance and insurance; and technology. The Committee is currently engaged with the first four areas in developing strategies to address immediate and longer term workforce challenges. The Committee is Co-Chaired by Anne Ladky, Executive Director of Women Employed, and Paul O’Connor, Executive Director of World Business Chicago.
Service Delivery Committee
The Committee’s primary goal is to influence the quality and efficiency of workforce development services to Chicago employers and job seekers. This includes improved service standards to better serve local labor market needs. The Committee is Co-Chaired by Sister Sheila Lyne, President and CEO of Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, and Greg Polman, Director of Vocational Services for the Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
Youth Council
The Youth Council examines the coordination of resources and best practices in service delivery to enhance Chicago’s youth workforce development system. The Youth Council is Co-Chaired by Harold Goldmeier, President of Sappanos/Hi-Grade Decorating Company, Mary Anne Kelly, Vice President of Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council, and Andy McKenna Jr., President of Schwarz.
