The mission of the Chicago Workforce Board (CWB) is to support the vision of Chicago as a world-class city by ensuring the creation of a workforce development system that sustains economic growth and competitiveness by meeting the needs of employers for qualified workers and expanding employment opportunities for Chicagoland residents. The Board is a non-profit organization with 52 board members providing a forum where business, labor, education, government, community-based organizations and other stakeholders work together to develop strategies to address the supply and demand of the local workforce.
Workforce Investment Act 5 Year Plan

Chicago Workforce Board receives Joyce Foundation grant
The Chicago Workforce Board has been awarded a grant from the Joyce Foundation to support an evaluation of the Chicago Workforce Center for the Service Industries (ServiceWorks) and the Chicago Workforce Center for Manufacturing (ManufacturingWorks). These centers provide recruitment, training and other services to employers in their respective targeted industries. The study will employ quantitative and qualitative research methods to determine center outcomes and their value to the public workforce system. The study will be conducted by researchers from the Center for Urban Economic Development at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
